Bio

Ever since he was a child, John had outstanding skills of observation. John, like our father, could draw anything he wanted to - from caricatures to real life duplicates. However, John did not simply just copy what he saw in the world, but rather was always able to put that small twist on it that made you smile. It was as though he saw something in the subject that you had missed.

Some may call it the eye of an artist...

John naturally majored in fine arts in college where he received his B.F.A. from Auburn University in 1992. It was in college that John took a photography class, which ultimately became the medium he was most passionate about. Again, like the drawings he did as a small child, his photos were not just technically great, but there was an extra element that he was able to capture -- whether it be a photo capturing the absurdity of a college age girl too old to be in a prom dress to a photo with what appears to be a smile on my dog's face as he frolics in our home.

Upon leaving Auburn University, John moved to Atlanta, Georgia where he pursued post-graduate work at the Atlanta College of Art and the Portfolio Center. Never too big to want to know more, John expanded his studies with an emphasis on photography, including commercial work. In Atlanta, John has shot everything from nationally recognized catalogs to children's portraits to weddings.

I have no doubt that John excels in wedding photography. He photographed my wedding and the photographs are exactly what my wife and I wanted; beautiful, artful, and thus framed at my home. Again it's John's artistically keen sense of observation that gets him and his client those memorable shots. His candid shots always make you feel like you were there while the posed wedding shots capture the beauty of the bride, groom and family. John perceives photography as a fine art. Now, I don't want to scare anyone to think that he is going to dress the attendants in black and have them hold rotting fruit. What I think the difference between John and other commercial photographers is, is that John uses the same care and quality that he would if taking photographs for art's sake...something often missing in the world of commercial photography where photos are taken for the sake of the dollar.

John's passion for photography continues to branch forward with every photograph that makes a memory.
